About Addanki

Located in the Prakasam district of the state of Andhra Pradesh in India, Addanki is divided into two primary areas Addanki South and the Addanki North, which houses the mandal headquarters in the Ongole revenue division.

Geography Of Addanki

Located on the banks of the river Gundlakamma, (which is the primary source of drinking water for the people in Addanki), this city is right in the middle of Narasaraopet, Guntur, and Ongole. Also, this city is located at an elevation of 82 feet and at 15.8167°N 79.9833°E.

History Of Addanki

This city was once known as the city of poems. The famous Yerrapragada, a Telugu poet, worked as a poet in the kingdom of Prolaya Vemareddy, who was the founder of the Vemareddy dynasty that had Addanki as its capital. Yerrapragada was one of the great Telugu poets who also worked on translating Mahabrath.

Historical ruins were found close to the Dharmavaram village located in Addanki. These ruins are six tombs that were found in a bad shape by local workers.
One of the great patriots called Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu completed his primary schooling in this historical town. The school now is named as Sri Praksam Government High School.

Tourism In Addanki

The most frequently visited place in Addanki is the Shri Sai Baba Temple. This temple is built with one of the most beautiful and unique architecture. This temple is famous because the Lord Hanuman temple is situated at the end of the hill and the Swamy temple is located right on top of the hill.

After this temple, families visit the city of Addanki itself. Since this city does not have the regular hustle and bustle seen in big cities like Hyderabad and Secunderabad, people come here to enjoy a relaxed weekend or spend some time away from their routine lives.
